Alberta Equestrian Federation

The Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF), founded in 1978 and based in Alberta, is the province’s official governing body for equestrian sport and industry. It supports farmers and rural communities by promoting horse welfare, offering rider and coach development programs, and maintaining trails and recreational infrastructure. With nearly 15,000 members across over 425 communities, AEF provides insurance, funding, and access to competitions and education for horse owners and enthusiasts. Its mission is to foster a positive environment for equine enjoyment while preserving Alberta’s rich equestrian heritage.
