The Alberta Sugar Beet Growers (ASBG), founded in 1925 and based in Taber, Alberta, represent 200 farm families cultivating 28,000 acres of sugar beets—the last source of 100% Canadian sugar. ASBG supports farmers through advocacy, education, and sustainable practices, ensuring fair pricing, industry growth, and ethical production. These sugar beets are refined locally and verified as sustainably grown, contributing over $248 million to Alberta’s economy and supporting more than 2,000 jobs. By promoting domestic sugar policies and innovation in farming techniques, ASBG helps farmers remain competitive in a market dominated by imported cane sugar.
